Some novice queries about the Linkstation Pro Duo

I'm really sorry if these are obvious questions. I'm having some difficulty and I hope you can help.

I bought a Linkstation Pro Due yesterday to store all of my photos, music, videos etc. I've set it to Raiud 1 so it's effectively got a 500gb space.

It's IP is 192.168.0.130

The PC is 192.168.0.5

I'm using XP, firmware of pro is 3.09 (is this the latest?).

The installation process was simple, and before I knew it I had a Share folder and I also created a Mr_Documents folder.

My confusion is though that my laptop cannot see this as a network drive. It sees my PC, sees my Xbox 360 but not the Linkstation.

The same goes for the Xbox 360, sees the PC and the laptop but not the linkstation.

Am I missing something very simple?

Also, a couple more questions that I've collated.

1. Xbox 360, I would prefer to have my ageing slow PC off and just stream direct from the Linkstation to the 360. Is this possible?

2. I have a squeezebox, same question - I've read that you need to hack into the Linkstation and do some horrendous looking coding. I don't want to do this as it'll no doubt nullify my warranty. Is there a way around this?

3. Sleep function - is there one? I know there is Auto which switches off when the PC is turned off, but this isn't ideal as then (should questions 1 and 2 be possible), I won't be able to stream! Are there any solutions?

Any help would be really appreciated. If I've missed any info then please let me know

Thanks in advance

Try pinging the linkstation from your laptop to see where is the connectivity issue.

If you want to stream all the time, is better to use the ON option instead of AUTO. The AUTO function is only for enviroments for example where you have some computers accesing the linkstation. If all computers have the Nav2navigator and are turned off, the Buffalo will turn off as well.

Alex
