I have a Teratstation Pro II 1TB running one RAID5 array. All my workstations but one can access shares based on their Windows XP username and password. This one XP desktop can access shares as long as they have no access restrictions. Any ideas what I can do to get this computer working?

When you map your drives you can try it via IP \\ip_of_nas\folder_name

or you can try disabling your firewall software and antivirus software before mapping

We don't map the network shares at all. We use Shortcuts for everything. The workstation connects to the share, but my XP login is not recognized by the Terastation, so not matter what username and password I try, I'm not allowed to see that shared folder.

Paul

If you open my computer then map it via IP and check the box (by default it is) windows will log in every time for you, if you want to log in your self every time then uncheck the box, then make a short cut of the map drive to the desk top.

That's a good idead, but I can't login at all. Mapping is not my problem. Authentication is my problem. Any idea why the Terastation won't allow even admin to login from this workstation?

Paul

That depends on what the user list looks like.  You have to create users in the unit and assign them passwords.  Then enable access restrictions on each share, last you have to move the user into the read write category.  Are you also using groups?

watfordo

I have created 2 user groups, but I haven't used them. I have about 15 users, and the access restrictions work well with each of them. I happen to have one workstation that won't allow access to restricted shares, even if I use the admin username and password. Can you think of why one computer would be blocked from restricted shares?

Paul

That can only be firewall and antivirus software, or possible a domain security policy setting.  Try to disable all firewall and antivirus software running including Microsoft by going to run and typing firewalls and turning it off there.

I am having the same issue as this user was - I did not see a resolution for him though.  I have a Terastation PRO TS-H2.OTGL/R5 connected to a windows server 2003 SBS.  The computers all have XP Pro and we use a shared shortcut.  I can ping the storage device but it does not allow any of the users to connect.  We have had this storage unit for 2 years and worked flawlessly and yesterday we started having these problems.  I was able to get it to connect yesterday by repeated reboots of the Terastation - today no success.  Really need help - thanks!

Wat,

Another important thing to remember is that you can only log in as one user at a time.  When you map the shares you have to map the most restricted share first.  Try disconnecting from any/all shares and reboot the computer.  Then map them via IP, but map the folder that has the most restricted access first.

MRyan,

In the NASNAVI program can you tell me what it says for hostname, IP address and firmware version?  The IP address hasn't changed or anything has it?
