LSL-CH 1 TB Firmware?

I just had to buy my second one of these devices. Last night my wife threw a toy for our dog which bounced as bouncy things do and knocked my last LSL-CH 1TB unit off its stand. I tried to have it recovered today but the PLATTERS were frozen even after going inside the hard drive. We dont have a platter reader locally to get my data back and im not prepared to pay the costs involved to shift the drive elsewehere to recover the data. ANYHOO

 

I purchased a replacement today and was just trying to update it to the latest firmware. It had 1.02 when i turned it on, I have updated that to 1.07. I have tried to run the 1.21 update but it says it cant find any linkstation that needs teh update. Am i doing something wrong? Have i missed a firmware between 1.07 and 1.21. How do i get the 1.21 Firmware to run and install if it says it cant find the LSL-CH. It is working as normal otherwise but I just would like to have the latest firmware.

 

Any suggestions?

   The 1.21 update is for units that have the lastest hardware components.  There was a change in chipset or something and the firmware version is the only indicator.  1.07 is the latest version of the firmware for the original spec LS Live, and 1.21 is the latest version for the newer spec.  I don't think there is much difference between the actual products.  Buffalo says they're going to continue to release firmware updates to the original chipset, but I imagine it is going to be really confusing for all involved.  No need to return your unit or anything, looks like something got lost in the translation with the numbering system
