How to retain permissions on legacy folders, and new folders

Windows Server2003 Workgroup (no domain)

 

How can I move current data on old drives to the new terastation and retaind all of the folder permissions?  We have thousands of folders, with different permissions.  I can move files between other drives with robocopy and keep permission, but when I copy files to the teraserver, the permissions are gone.

 

Can I copy users/permission profiles from the server to the terastation?

 

What do i need to do to get folder level permissions?

 

I've read some threads that seem to be close to this, but not sure if they apply for me.  Also, it's difficult to comprehend a NAS drive that will not support folder permissions somehow, I'm thinking there must be a way.

   Unfortunately the terastation does not support sub folder or file level permissions passed on by windows.  You can create share level permissions, but nothing after that.
