I have a Terastation Live model HS-DHTGLBB9, and for a while now, it has been very slow to respond and now I can't even login to the admin page most of the time. Also the disks and the lights are just running all the time, and I am not sure if that is normal (RAID5), but I don't think it always did that. I am only using about 47% space of my 2TB. I used to get better speeds especially when streaming HD to my PS3, now its a lot more choppy and when I fastforward or rewind it goes slower as well. Is there anything I can do try and make this run better? Any temp files I can delete or commands I can run against it to see what is really going on and make sure it not a zombie for a botnet or something terrible!?! I do have telnet access when it responds if that helps...Please if anyone has any tips or things I can try I would really appreciate the help, TIA!

Update: Not sure if this helps, but I was able to run "cat /proc/cpuinfo" and this is what I got.

Well... you could flash the stock firmware back on it... if the issue continues, it's probably a hardware problem.

Here's the standard angle that I have to take...

Modifying of the hardware or software of a unit will void the warranty, and please do not discuss such modifications any further on this forum.

(And /proc/cpuinfo doesn't really help anyway, dmesg would be your best bet for relevent diagnostic information)

Thank you for the help and quick reply. I was just on the Buffalo site downloading the firmware again incase I decided to go that route. When I ran dmesg I got a bunch of:

eth0: bad rx status 2f877a19, <6>(crc error)<6>

I think that may be because I switched on Jumbo Frames the other night just to test if the speed was better, but I could be totally wrong.

I may try the firmware reflash to see if that helps, btw that doesn't delete important info like my shares or anything does it? I don't think I flashed the firmware on this before, so if I need to backup any info or settings please let me know. Also, I wasn't aware installing additional software on it would void warranty, thanks for that info and I removed the reference.

When I try and reinstall the firmware, I keep getting an error message:

"ACP_STATE_PID_ERROR"

and I cannot continue. Also, it has a hard time finding my Terastation and I have to keep hitting the Find button until it shows up again. Anyone have a sugesstion on how I can get past this error and flash? Also, do I have to backup any settings first? Thanks.

Make a backup before continuing. RAID is not a backup! Also, before updating the OS on any device, you'll want to make sure you have a current backup.

Typically, ACP_STATE_PID_ERROR means there's something wrong with the partitions or OS filesystem. Do a force firmware update (sticky on top of the storage board), but check all four Config options in the Debug menu. Rebuild Partition Table will result in total data loss, but it should get the device up and running again.
