I bought this some time ago... I guess it's been 7-8 years now... and one of the HDs has failed. I configured in a RAID 2 mirror, so my data is intact, but I need a replacement drive. The drive I pulled is 5400, but can the Cloudstor accept a 7200 replacement drive? Do I need to upgrade the healthy drive to a 7200 also? Or am I stuck with 5400? Bothe drives are/were 2TB. What happens if I upgrade to 4TB each drive? Thanks!

I assume you mean RAID1.

It shouldn't have a problem with different drives with different speeds, but writes would be limited to the speed of the slowest drive. Keep in mind the 7200rpm drives probably generate more heat.

2x4tb drives should work fine but you'll want to backup your data and create a new array with them. If you mirror a 2tb drive to a 4tb drive you end up with a 2tb array, if you replace the other 2tb you end up with a 2tb array mirrored across 2 4tb drives.

OK. So I bought two 2TB 7200 and pulled both 5400s. Now I can't "see" the NAS on my network. Have had no luck doing an IP scan via my router. How do I reset the device to start from scratch? I plan on mounting the surviving 5400 drive via external SATA/USB device to recover my lost data later.

The easiest way would be to keep drive1 and add a new blank drive as drive2, then add the new drive to the array, then move that drive to be drive1 and repeat with drive2.

If you still want to start from scratch you can do so via this method:
