Linkstation Pro Duo always seems to be reading/writing

My drive seems to accessing the disk all of time.  I can have all of the computers turned off and the read/write light is always flickering and I can hear the head(s) moving.  I am not sure if the heads of both drives are moving or only one.

 

This seems to be slowing down the performance of the drive.  I have some songs on this drive and when I try to play them back there are pauses.  If I play back the same song between 2 computers on a wireless network there is no problem.

 

Any thoughts on how to get this drive to do less work?

Try disabling the automatic update on the media server.

What do you mean by media server?  I checked in services.msc and I can find auto updates but I thought that was for the Windows updating.  Nothing about media server.  I went through the screens on the Linkstation and nothing about media server.

Log in to the linkstation and click on "media server".  You will see a header that says "Database refresh setting".  Next to automatic update select "remain"

When I log onto the Linkstation using the Web Admin link in the NASNav2 software I don't see a media server link.  I must be missing something.   My choices down the left side of the screen are:

 

Home

Basic

Network

Disk Management

Shared Folders

Group Management

User Managerment

Web Access

Print Server

Disk Backup

Maintenance

System Status
Logout

 

I didn't find media server under any of these links either. 

 

What am I missing?

   I have "Media Server" right between "Web Access" & "Print Server"  ??  I wonder why you do not?
