Hello!

I use the DriveStation Combo 4 (1 TB) for my backup, and recently when trying to transfer a video file from the DS to my computer, I receive error code -36, and this message:  "The Finder cannot complete the operation because some data in the file could not be read or written."

I receive this message on ANY type of file, including Applications.

I also receive the Mac Color Wheel every few seconds when navigating through the files on the drive.  This is all new behavior.

Any ideas?

What file format is the drive in when attempting to transfer these files?

Hello...thank you for your response.  The drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled).  I checked my permissions, as well, and I able to "read and write".

Well, it either sounds like corruption or HDD failure.  I would try different computers and/or perform a disk check (WARNING: this may hurt your chance of recovering the data).  Also you can try reformatting but this will result in data loss.
