Why in gods name did Buffalo make this interface instead of keeping the design of of something like an LS210? At least the otion to install an alternative and useful piece of firmware.

The LS210 is based on Marvell ARMADA 370 800 MHz, Dual Issu
The LS520 is a new device based on Dualcore Realtek RTD1195N, 2x 1.10GHz
