What's the best tool to use to synchronize offline backups? One that at least would ignore duplicates, and just copy files with newer timestamps/bigger file sizes, also deletes files that are no longer on the source folder.

Not asking too much, am I?

Thanks, actually I just need a simple solution for the user that will essentially "mirror" what he has on his windows laptop to a specified folder on the NAS drive. He'll plug it in for "syncing" every 2-4 weeks and expects the software to do the job while he sleeps. Sort of like a private Dropbox, if you will.

Hmm windows backup has really poopty UX designs. Adding folders one by one without the options for batch edits is a real pain!

I use GoodSync. I've used it to sync data for a few years, and also for backing information up locally. It's possible to back up to a cloud service also, if you have one.
