My Buffalo extern harddisk HP-E1.0TU2-EU just went death.

When connected to computer no icon shows in MY Computer.
There is no noise from the HD.
The green LED is death.

I checked the adapter and it still outputs 12V so it must be the HD itself that went down.

Anything I can do to save the data on the disk?

Restore from a recent backup?

Seriously though, if the drive really is dead, then in absence of said backup a professional data recovery service will probably be your only hope, but it won't be cheap.
