LinkStation Mini LS-WSXL flashing / blinking green light

I have a LinkStation Mini LS-WSXL that had been working without incident for more than a year.  Now, however, its only sign of life is a flashing green light.  The green light flashes whenever the power cord is plugged in regardless of power switch position.  The light continues to flash when the power switch is in the OFF position.  Switching the drive from OFF to ON to AUTO has no apparent effect.  There is no blink pattern other than on/off/on/off forever.

I saw some posts saying hold the function button down while turning the power switch on.  I've tried that and it has no effect.  Nothing changes.  No blue lights.

Any suggestions for diagnosis and repair are greatly appreciated!
