I have a LS-V1.0TL-US purchased in 2010. Yesterday this NAS can not longer be accessed. Its likely a firmware update. So I tried to update using the latest firmware for this model available. The firm ware seemed to be installing, restarted the buffalo and then performed a reboot. During this time the buffalo drive could no longer be detected. Has any one else had this issue? I thought maybe I needed to load a early version of firm ware but I could not find any.

Not sure what your issue is, however, I have a similar vintage NAS and the latest win 10 security update disabled SMB v1.  This is the only version of samba that my NAS supports, therefore, I can no longer see the file shares.  I can however, still get to the web administration interface.
So when you say you can no longer access or detect your NAS could it be that you are on a windows hosts that can no longer see the file share?

My work will not allow me to re-enable SMB v1 so I think I may be at the end of my Buffalo NAS's lifespan.

Super frustrating. Hope your issue is easier. Good Luck

You've gotten good use out of that LS-V :-)

I believe it can create an NFS share, which windows should be able to read.

schajx : Do you have nas navigator installed? What does it show?
**A single copy of data, even on a RAID array, is NOT a backup! Hard drive failure is not a question of IF, but WHEN! Don't take my word for it, take Google's!**
