Stay well away from Buffalo hard drives!! - the first one of these 4TB DriveStations that I ordered was completely DOA (dead on arrival) and I had to have it exchanged from day 1. The replacement drive lasted 2 years and then could not mount with buzzing sounds and then completely died -and I've lost 4TB of cherished data. They are all cheap, unreliable drives! -Stay away from this brand.... you have been warned!

Generalisation much? I have had close to 40 Buffalo devices over the last 12 years which have included upwards of 100 drives. I think maybe 5-10 have failed over that period which is 100% acceptable.

Drives always fail, you can be guaranteed of it, doesn't matter what manufacturer, if you don't backup your data then to be honest you deserve to lose it.
