I'm getting hold of a customer's Terastation running a Raid 5 setup. He says a drive failed which he has replaced but now the device is not showing in Windows. I don't know much else yet or anything about Terastations.

Do you think I will just need to run some software on my system to setup the raid 5 again or the customer could be mistaken and the device is faulty rather than the drive he replaced?

I'm guessing that if the device has failed I will have to mount the drives in another computer and use something like Reclaime Pro or Rstudio to rebuild and recover his data.

The first thing I'd recommend is installing NAS Navigator, available from the Buffalo website. That will find any TeraStations on the network and give you the status.
