I want to buy a LS220D0402 but want to be able to upgrade hard drives as time goes on.  When I spoke with pre-sales I was told "We do not suggest upgrading the hard drives as it can lose the NAS software".

This doesn't make sense to me because the software should be on the NAS itself (firmware?)

Can these drives be upgraded?  Does anyone know the size limit?

Thanks

Azasel

Buy another brand, Buffalo don't solve the bugs in there firmware and the support don't listen the customers....

The drives can be upgraded later, but it's not as simple as just popping the old drives out and replacing them. The OS is stored on the drives from the factory, so you have to replace one drive at a time. Unless you get one of the diskless enclosures which can install the OS on blank drives.
