We have seen some problems accessing a NAS share after applying Windows update. This is especially true for the Anniversary Update of Windows 10.

Try these steps in sequence and go to the next step only if the step does not resolve the issue.

1- Attempt to access the share by entering \\(IP Address) in file explorer. If the unit is accessible by IP address the issue is not related to the update and it is a name resolution issue.

2- Verify "Network Location" is Set to either Private or Public in Windows 10 and 8.1  Control Panel ---> "Network and Sharing Center"  Select Home or Public if already not set.

3- Create a local user account.

4- If all fails, change user account to local account.
