Buffalo Router Questions - Model WZR-HP-G450H

I bought this router last year in Bahrain, I was traveling at the time. I never delved deep into what I could do and the few things I did didn't seem to work. So I was busy and didn't have time to look into it, so here I finally am. I have a list of questions and including it into one post instead of several.

• First off is the firmware update. I never did it. Mine currently is Firmware: DD-WRT v24SP2-MULTI (09/27/12) std. I see two updates; 20025, 18795, and readme on both is "releasenote_wzr_hp_g450h_ddwrt_eu.html.Now when I click on those it takes me to Buffalo.jp site. Which is of course a japanese site. I see here that the FW is 3.00. So what is with mine? Because I bought it overseas is it not original or is this a model from japan? Should I upgrade that FW or get it from your site somewhere?
• For when I travel overseas I don't have access to NetFlix and Hulu and the things that are region locked. I use unloctor.com for getting around that. I assume some ISP's randomly update my IP or something else. So I have to keep logging into the site and updating my IP. On their site they have a way to setup a CRON routine https://support.unlocator.com/customer/en/portal/articles/1479791-how-to-set-up-a-cronjob-on-dd-wrt-to-auto-update-your-ip?b_id=8858 I tried this and it never works. Is their guide correct? If not what is the correct setup?
• I'm using a wifi extender from Netgear at my house. I've had connection problems with it. It's their cheap one. Nothing in particular to mention but I'm curious if there are known issues with wifi extenders with the router.
