An old problem it seems, I can't get a LS-QVL back to default password

Hi, I'm new to Buffalo NAS's, so please forgive my ignorance.  The company I've just joined has a LS-QVS 4-drive NAS.  The data on it is obsolete and in any case I was able to get on as Guest to delete it.  Now the boss wants it completely wiped and set up for sharing confidential management files rather than use the production server.  Plus, of course, no-one remembers the password  :)

I've tried resetting it as the instructions say, but nothing happens, the NASNavigator will still not allow me admin access or to update the firmware.  The blue line gets about half-way then says the password (password) is not valid.

Company is using Macs exclusively, apart from one PC that's used for playing music files.

I'd really appreciate some pointers, as I believe, reading through some of the old posts found using Google, that a helpful guy called davo has (or had) a software file that could reset the passwords.
