like many I have read and performed steps in bulletins.
example I was successful updating the firmware to ver 2.82 and modifying the tsupdateter.ini before doing it. Was not able to get a debug choice to show up in tsupdater though.
I also have made a bootable usb (using rufus) with the TS5000v281bootUSB.dd image, booted with it which gives me 4 choices, tried them all, within this environment I can log in with admin and password and get a prompt like admin@ts5200$
I tried passwd admin
and put in a new password but it said it could not use root to change it.
needless to say, I still can't login to it. I don't mind wiping out the data, I suspect I did so already running the utils I have.
I also have a hiren boot usb that I can use to access files and folders on it. but not sure where to navigate to and change, especially since so many volumes show up.  I think a /bin/usr folder
thoughts etc.

Can't beeive this is such a difficult subject to solve, see my post regarding a TS-6, somebody must know how to do it! Just dissappointed that such a large firm as Buffalo ignores owners as soon as their warranty expires. The default reset should be fully explained in one of their tutorials!

Let me know of any success, i will do likewise.

If it were easy to change the password then it would also be easy for someone else to change your password and gain access to the data. On a TS5200 you can completely reset the unit using the bootable USB key made from the download available on our download page. Be aware that this process is data destructive.

Can this also be done on the TS-6vh ???

You should also beable to do it this way as well. If you dont have a USB and you dont care about the data.

I used the bootable image and pressed the function key when prompted, it looked like it successfully reimaged and rebooted. but still can't authenticate via the web using admin and password, I know admin is accepted
