USB boot drive creation

Hello, I have a TS-8VH24TL/R6. I am trying to remove the original 3TB Seagate drives and replace them with 2TB Western Digital Enterprise drives.
The problem I have is that I have transferred all data from the current(Seagate) drives and have deleted the array via the WEB GUI. I was in the process of removing the drives via the WEB GUI when the unit quit communicating. I can still see it via NASNavigator but no more WEB GUI. I had removed drives 1, 2, 4, 5, 7 & 8 when the device went "dark". I have power cycled the unit several times with varying configs of drives inserted.
When all drives are inserted the LCD panel is red and displays "RAID ARRAY1 E14, Can't mount"   
When only drives 3 & 6 are inserted the LCD panel is blue and displays no error messages of any kind.
What I would like to do is create a USB boot stick for this but can find no details of how to do this.
I realize that I should have done this before I started deleting drives, but I did not think this process was this difficult.
I emailed Buffalo support and was told, in a nice way, that I am S.O.L as this model has been EOL'ed.
If any one knows how to create a USB boot drive for the TeraStation, please let me know.
Current FW, as per NASNavigator is 1.21.
