HD-LC2.0U3 won't power up

Hi guys!

I have the above model number of 2TB external HD.  I just pulled it out of the box.  It won't power up.  Normally I would just return it, but this is the second one that I have had this problem with. 

Am I crazy here?  Is there a power on I don't know about or something?  It seems pretty remarkable to have to hard drives that are DOA in the same batch.

ummm bought mine in January of 2014 and I powered it down one day and attempted to power it up and nothing... Can some one help us!!!
