Linkstation live w/ Bittorrent - dead?

Hi All,

 

turned on my drive the other day to find it didin't come up, getting cannot connect to windows share error, after studying the drive the top light is constantly flashing.

 

I tried turning it off and then holding the Func button and then pressing it again, to no availa, light doesnt go solid and it just keeps flashing, is it borked?

 wont let me sign in as admin with my password or just 'password'it will however let me sign in as guest, and comes up with back fan malfuction, although the back fan is running,

 

any ideas?

 

have tried switching the switch on the back to off and its not powering off!!

You know that after you switch it off it can take around 5 mins to actually shut off right?

 

If it is telling you the fan is malfuntioning then the fan is malfuntioning.  Why would it lie?  It says it's malfuntioning not dead.

If you press the function button and turn it on- it remains blinking because it does not fully boot up. So far it is normal. But this answer does not solve the initial problem. If you don't press the button while starting, does it go solid?

if i dont hold the button, light still doesn't go solid,

 

Unit does eventually shut off after waiting a few mins.

 

Tried holding the func button for about 2 minutes or so and still nothing, doesnt go solid.

 

Out of ideas.. its only 2 months or so old so might try to return it.

Hmmm, always my last try: Disconnect the power, move it away (about 1,5m) from other electrical devices. Wait about 1 hour and try to boot.

 

If that fails I would return it. Then either the board or the HDD is gone/can't mount. Good luck!
