Cannot Copy or Delete folders marked as "Read Only"

So I have 3 folders that are marked as read only. i want to copy them to an external hard drive and then delete them from the NAS. However, any action I try to take tells me I need permission from Unix User\Nobody to do anything.

Trying the usual way to gain ownership, set new permissions, or unset read only on the folders gets an "Access Denied" error.

So how do I get back control of these folders?

Did you try loggin to the unit. going to share folders tab and changing the settings on the folder? If you give me the model I can give you better instructions.

The initial settings were No restrictions. I set restrictions and added a local and domain user and gave them read+write permissions on the share. I still cant do anything with the data. It is a Ts-RXL 5 TB.

Remove all the permissons and try again. If not you can try making back shares of them. create a new share and call it back_blahblah, put a check in backup, then go to the share that has the data and make sure there is a check in that backup as well. go to backjobs and create a job. Source should be the share with the data and destination is the new share you created. dont get them mixed up or you can lose your data. Start the job and see if it is xfering the data over. depending on the amount of data will depend on the time it will take,.
