Hi

We recently had our NAS go down. Two of the drives failed on us. We decided to get 4 new drives and start all over. We plug in our new 4 drives and well...we are in EM Mode with No Array Info.

The first thing we did was to put the latest firmware on. We put on 1.64 on it. It seems the default IP address was 192.168.1.188. We go to the site and we cannot see anything. Page does not load/not found.

I got NASNavigator2 on and it does see drives, but it is in EM Mode. Since we are starting from scratch, where can I look to find out how to get our NAS up and running?

So right now this can be a pain if we don't find the other 2 good drives. IF you do find them put one of them in slot one and the 3 new drives in the other slots. see if the unit boots up. if not try another slot. The OS is on the disk so you replacing all 4 disk will cause issues. The unit is in EM mode which is good. You can try the update again and see if it will take it this time but there is no OS so it might now. IF all else fails you will need to do TFTP on the unit to bring it back to life.

Well, I found the 2 hard drives that were still working. We can see the site. Now...2 of my hard drives are 3 T while the two originals are 1 T. I do not mind blowing away the data/user/groups to fix this, but basically, I want to move to all 4 drives to be 3 T.

Right now, 1 old drive has the array 1. 2nd old drive has "Error". The two new ones says "Waiting to Rebuild". Anyone know links for me to help moved to the higher drives?

BTW, should I "Rebuild Raid array" and let that set up everything?

Looks like we got it set up. Once the 2 old drives were there, we formatted the new drives and started to rebuild.

Thanks

If you want to replace the 2 old drives with the new one you can. Though now that your rebuilding the raid it would be a waste of time. Just keep the news one ready for replacement and replace the drive when they fail.

Here is a guide on replacing a disk
