Hi,

I just bought a Linkstation Duo (LS-WXL). Since I am a web developer, I would like to know if it's possible to have access to the php source files etc. The current php version is 5.2 and I would like to update to current version. Also I want to update PhpMyAdmin etc.

Furthermore, I would be so grateful if somebody could explain to me how I can make this folder accessible from the internet. I can access it now on my local ip: http://192.168.0.xxx:81 , but not from public ip: http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xx:81 . I have searched for informations on the internet and came accros the following link:
http://my.faq.buffalo-global.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/14727/p/31,33, which states that "If you are planning to access the device from internet, setup static IP address for the NAS device and on your router, setup DDNS & NAT table to forward http port 80 on WAN port to port X (81) on LAN."

How do I do this?

I'm completely new to this, so forgive me if this is a foolish question!

Kind regards,
HS

Go to http://portforward.com/ choice your router and go from there. This is how you would port forward. You can even go on youtube and look for your "(your model) port forwarding),

If there is a way to update anything that is a third party software in a linkstation. That would me you need to hack it and stuff. Not my corner of the world for a LinkStation. I did some searching but didnt find anything helpful. You might be on your own for this one part.
Units I own: TS-XL, TS-WXL, LS-WVL, TS-RXL,  TS5400, TS-RVHL,

I don't work for Buffalo but i do love there products enough to help people

Which port should I forward then? 81 ? because this doesn't change anything...

You need to forward external port 80 to internal port 81, not all routers can do this. Any router with ddwrt can, check with your router provider.
PM me for TFTP / Boot Images / Recovery files  LSRecovery.exe file.
