How is Automatic supposed to work??

Hi,
Thanks for your help with my shared folder problem. New issue (not a problem, at least I don't think so). I'm trying to use the "Auto" position on the on-off-auto switch in the back of my LS-WXL365. I read the directions (really, I did). I installed NAS Navigator2 and it runs at startup.

With the switch in the Auto position the drive eventually turns itself off. I start up the computer and my erroneous assumption is that through some magic, the linkstation is supposed to come to life. No joy. I manually run NAS  Navigator2 and it looks for a network drive but comes up empty.

I then move the switch to ON and the unit stays off. I then move it to OFF and then back to ON and it turns on.

Any suggestions on how to get AUTO to work properly?
