New LS-CH1 bricked?

Hi all,

I was hoping someone could help me, i'm tearing my hair out after spending the afternoon trying to get my new LS-CH1 working again.

It was working fine out of the box, except it didn't work with the PS3 which was it's purpose. Quick research told me that the 1.07 firmware will fix it.

I ran the updater, it seemed to work fine. However, after it restarted, the device showed up on the network for about 30 seconds, and then disappeared. I tried connecting to the web admin tool, however it now ran extremely slowly, and basically stopped working if I even got to the point where i could submit the login.

I checked the NAS Admin util, it shows as the correct name for about 30s to a minute before it changes to some chinese symbol and it tells me that it's in EM mode. I can ping the device but I can't see it on the network and attempting to connect to the webadmin just gives me an error that i'm not permitted.

I've tried forcing a firmware reinstall with both 1.07 and 1.06, but it goes into a loop after finding the device telling me that the password is incorrect a few times before exiting. It doesn't even prompt me to enter a password.

I'm now resorting to the TFTP boot utility. I've followed the instructions but it doesn't seem to get picked up by the NAS.

I think that I'm not getting the LSCH1 into EM mode. I've tried holding the function button down for 6 seconds (and much longer!) before turning it on, then releasing and holdign it again. The function light just keeps flashing and it appears to be continuing with loading the faulty firmware.

Any suggestions? I've seen other people here commenting they can't get their CH1 to boot into EM mode but I can't see any fix!

Boot it with the function button held in, then while the function LED is flashing, tap the function button again. This will reset it to defaults. After that, perform a force firmware update with all four options checked... this will remove all data.
