i've got my nas set up, i connect my xbox to it via a network. i've got video files on it and can play them through my xbox no problem. i've transfered a load of albums (mp3s) to the nas, but the xbox cant see any of the files. do they have to be in a specific directory? in the settings i've got "share" as the folder shared, then everything is in that folder, films etc. i've created a folder within the shared folder called "my music" but the xbox cant see any of it. what have i done wrong?

help!

After I add new files I need to tell mine to Restart the media server.  If you go to 192.168.20.108:9050 (replace 192.168.20.108 with your LS address) can you see the music files there?

Jason

The xbox 360 is not a certified DLNA device, it won't stream directly from the LS, at least not correctly, you would need a computer in the loop.

See this MS doc regarding media streaming to the 360: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/pcsetup/XPSP2.htm" target="_blank">http://www.xbox.com/en-US/pcsetup/XPSP2.htm

As you can see they want you to use the Zune software, or wmp 11 tversity would also work, but that would be all served through a pc. You can certainly use the files that are stored on the LS but you wouldn't be using it's media server function.

The LinkStation will only accept DLNA compliant devices. In other words direct stream from the LS to the X360 isn't possible. You might get access to some data but apparently not all.

As we've noted in previous posts, the Xbox 360 is not a DLNA compliant device. Therefore, it will not necessarily work correctly with the Linkstation, and if it doesn't, we cannot provide support for it. We've provided links to assist you in streaming music from your PC to the Xbox 360.
