New password won't save in 'initialization' mode

I have an LS-W1.0TGL/R1-US that I've done just about everything I can think of to get up and running after a forgotten password. I put the unit into EM mode and nuked the drives so losing data is not an issue. I can use the 'init' button to put the unit into 'initialization' mode, and log in using the default 'admin/password' combo. Once in I alter the password to something different, reboot, then am unable to log in again. I have tried multiple times with different passwords to no avail... neither my new password nor the default one will work. I have tried forcibly updating the firmware, but that doesn't work either.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I seem to have resolved the issue. I'm not sure of the details, but here's what I did:

I was attempting originally to put the unit into 'initialization' mode by booting the unit while holding the 'init' button for 6 seconds, then releasing, then again holding the button for 30 seconds. It seems that the unit was going into 'initialization' mode, but all settings that are changed using this method do not save when rebooted.

To properly put the unit into 'initialization' mode boot the unit while holding the 'init' button, release, then quickly push and release the button again while the power light is blinking blue. After doing this I was able to make settings changes and update the password and are all saved even after rebooting.
