Delayed Write Failed error

My DriveStation HD-CE1.0TU2 1TB 7200 RPM USB 2.0 External Hard Drive recentley started popping up with an error message,

 

"Delayed Write Failed : Windows was unable to save all the data for the file G:\$Mft. The data has been lost. This error may be caused by a failure of your computer hardware or network connection. Please try to save this file elsewhere. "

 

I was able to stay on for about 5-10 minutes to transfer important documents over to my desktop since this was scaring the hell out of me. And now I have lost complete access to my drivestation. the icon on the quick launch tells me my hardware is plugged in, but the buffalo icon does not show up on My Computer. I dont know what to do. I need help!

Since you're experiencing delayed write failure you can try reformatting the drive:

1. Click Start
2. Right click My Computer
3. Click on Manage
4. Click on Disk Management which is under Storage
5. In the right hand pane of the window you should see a volume that is approximately 968 GB (denoted by a blue or black bar above it).
6. Right click on the partition and something to the effect of Format or Create new partition should come up as an option
7. Choose Format or Create new partition to attempt reformat of this disk to get rid of bad sectors. You'll want to make sure your file system is NTFS (full format) and the drive record is MBR.

That's it. Wait and cross your fingers. A full format of a 1 TB drive will take approximately 7+ hours to format if the HDD is remotely good. If it fails formatting and you're in the US region you can contact our tech support for a replacement as long as you're in warranty.
