LS-XHL -- Check Disk -- Drive Formate Message!?!?

   When I run Check Disk on my LS-XHL it gives me a message stating that it is Formating The Drive!!!!  But it actually does not formate the drive, check disk runs in the background for about 2 min, and the returns to the previous screen indidcating drive status as OK.  I found this very alarming because when you click Formate, it gives you a similar message.  Does anyone know if this is a bug in the current firmware, anyone else out there experiencing the same issue???
