Linkstation Pro Duo: server connection interrupted on MAC/OS X via WLAN

Dear all,

 

I am searching through the internet since days and have not the slightest idea how to overcome the following problem:

 

I mount my Linkstation Pro Duo on my Macbook either as smb or as afp. In each case, if I start to copy large amounts of data after some time (ranging from seconds to minutes) the transfer stops and OS x show a dialog box saying "sever connection interrupted" for the mount points I have. Afterwards I can easily mount again. This only happens via WLAN, using a fixed cable works like a charm! I tried to set the channel of my wireless network to something away from the other networks in the house but it didi't help.

 

Does anybody have an idea?

Your suspicion seems correct, you're probably encountering interference over the wireless connection. Change the channel, and try pinging the routers address to see if there's any packet loss.

you are right. Using a ping -f I see hundreds of packets being lost. I tried now every channel between 1 and 13, switching off all device I have in my flat, being near to the router ... without success. To be honest this situation really annoys me. 

 

Does anybody have a good idea how to overcome this WLAN interference problems?

Interference can be caused by several different sources. Other wireless networks, 2.4 GHz cordless telephones, and electronic devices (like a printer, computer, or monitor) within a foot or so of the router can all cause interference. Try disabling cordless phones and moving the router, and run ping -f on all the channels, see which one give you the least percent loss.
