i-

I have a HS-DH2.0TGL/R5 Linkstation.

After a power failure the other day I get the E04 Fail to load Kernal error.

If I pull drives 1 or 3 I can get it to boot with the missing HD error, but the R5 Array is corrupt. I tried flashing the FW but it does not seem to correct the issue.

Do I have 2 bad drives after this power failure? Did I lose everyhing?

Help!

ThanksH

davo

With one of the HDDs removed it may go into EM mode and then you can reflash the firmware so cycle through the HDDs one at a time.

PM me for TFTP / Boot Images / Recovery files  LSRecovery.exe file.

Ok-

Update-

I pulled drive by drive again.

I pulled drive 2, was able to get to EM, Flashed the FW and it took.

Now I get E13, Disk 2 is faulty, Degrade mode.

If I log in to the Disk management I see disc 2 is unchecked.

Should I re-check it and try to restructure? If that drive is really bad will that cause data loss?

Thanks!

Yes, tick the HDD and rebuild the RAID, it should not erase the data but make sure you have a backup before proceeding.

Yea- I don't have a backup :( Hopefully I dont learn my lesson the hard way. I have not been population this drive until the last 6 months or so...should have set up a backup right away.

Before I rebuild- Let me review my status messages for you:

Raid Error E13

Operation Mode I12 Degrade Mode

HD2 Error E23

I can access the Web Gui, I cannot access the share folder on the drive, the drive "space" indicators on the front panel display are not reporting any HDD usage.

Still a good idea to tick the HD2 box and rebuild the array? Or should I go grab a new 500G drive first?

Thanks for all your input Davo!

you should still have the files available in RAID 5 so this is worrying. Run the Nas Navigator (http://www.buffalo-technology.com/en/download_file.php?r=19" target="_self">link) and post a screen shot of what it reports along with any error messages.

NAS Navigator shows HDD Raid5 Unformatted.

I got a new drive and put it in. I selected restructure and it completed that successfully and is currently repairing raid array 1.

Did I screw the pooch here????
