Linkstation not showing up under network in Windows Explorer

I just did a clean install of Windows 7 on both my laptop and desktop.

On my desktop everything is working **bleep**.  I have a printer attached to the NAS and it works.

On my laptop though, the NAS does not show up under network.  This causes a problem because then the printer is not available to me.  By using the NASNavigator I can click browse shares and then a new explorer opens up with the Linkstation now showing up under Network.  Now I can use the printer.  But I cannot **bleep** places.

What is wrong here and what can I do to cause the Linkstation to show up in the Network like it should every time I start Windows?

Remap in the search box in windows 7 after hitting bottom left start button.  in that box put \\ip ex \\192.168.11.8 . press enter.  Then right click on your shared folder and go to map network drive.  Give it a letter and it will be under computer.

The problem was not that I couldn't map the network drive, the problem was that the drive was not showing up under Network in Windows Explorer as I stated.  I could trick it to do so by using NASNavigator and browsings shares that way.  I NEEDED (the Linkstation) it to show up under Network in order for me to use the Printer Server.  By just having a folder off of the Linkstation mapped as a drive under Computer would not accomplish that.

But nevermind I think I figured out the problem.  It was my Kaspersky Interenet Security Suite 10.  For whatever reason, KIS installed on my desktop PC with different settings than it did on my laptop and I just needed to adjust one setting on my laptop KIS installation and it seems to be working now.

Hi there.

I know this is a bit of a long shot, but I am having exactly the same problem you were having.

Can you remember what the issue was with Kapersky?

Thanks

I'm having same problem here and I'm using Window's 8. I do  not have any third party anti-virus software etc. The interesting thing is it showed before. I must have changed some settings and now I cannot see LinkStation in network window any more. Any suggestion anyone or BuffaloTech ??

Can you recall what setting you  changed in Kapersky.  We have Zone Alarm, which uses Kapersky, and I am hoping your solution will work for us also.  Thanks.
