TeraStation II stuck in chkdsk for a week.

Long story short, I don't usually administer this device. My boss (the one who does), is currently out of the country for two weeks still. Before he left he started to run a chkdsk on the 6Tb NAS box, It's still going a week later.

 

I can say that the firmware is 1.2, but as my only access to the device is through the web interface. That only provides me with the NAS reporting that it is Checking/Formatting Disk... and all features are disabled. I have no access to it otherwise. NASNavigator2 won't see the device, either because it's not actually sharing out currently, or because it's not on my local network, I can only get to it because the routers between my location and its are connected via IPSec. 

 

So my end result question is: Should I logically expect that for some reason it's supposed to take this long to run chkdsk? 

 

If not, is it (relatively) safe to assume tha the box is doing nothing in reality, and I should get someone to physically go to it and restart the unit? 

 

If so, ok, enough said.

It should not take that long. I would reboot it.

i had the same problem. So i rebooted the device but it the power light just keeps blinking. All my data is on this device and i cannot loose it. i just got the device, finished my file transfer. My employee ran chkdsk before i can duplicate the info to the second nas unit, and now the device just keeps trying to boot without success, no error lights just blinking power light, no access
