Hi,

I am not an IT/ network expert. I just bought Buffalo LinkStation Pro Duo and condigured it according to the manual.

Main configutaions are:

Firmware version: 1.56

WebAccess Service: Enabled

HTTPS/SSL Encryption: Disabled

Use Baffalonas.com: Enabled

Auto-Configure Firewall (UPnP): Enabled

External Port: 38256

NAS Internal Port: 9001

Router: D-link Dir-300

(I used the Easy Webaccess Settings to setup)

After this, I noted that if I use Internet Explorer 9 (Win 7) and go to the URL: http://buffalonas.com" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">http://buffalonas.com using my PC within the local network, I could not access the folders using my BuffaloNAS.com Name.

Error Message: Internet Explorer cannot display the page.

Same thing happen to my iPhone, which shows request time out after keying in the BuffaloNAS.com Name in the "WebAccess i" App, if I am using local wifi. However, if I turned off the Local Wifi and used 3G/ External Network, it works perfectly.

Thanks for your time and appreciate if you could help me to solve my problem.

thanks for the PM, tested it and port 9000 is not open on your router, you need to forward port 9000 for TCP to the Linkstations IP address. This can usually be done on the NAT section of your router.

Thanks Davo for the prompt reply.

I used "Can You See Me" org to check my port and I got the message "Success: I can see your service on xxx.xx.xx.179 on port (9000). You ISP is not blocking 9000. As we are in different time zone, I am wondering whether it might affect your test result if my Linkstation was put on standby mood as I don't turn it on 24 hours a day (I use AUTO mood).

And I have also for set the Port Forwarding at 9000 for both Internal and External port under the "Advanced Port Forwarding" section.

Still, I cannot access the Linkstation within my local LAN/ Wifi. When I use iphone, I got "Request Time Out" message at the NAS List. And if I try to log in using my ID and password, an error message "Login Failed - Bad URL" pop out.

Thanks for your help so far and looking forward to your solution on this.

Hi Coolest/ Davo,

I just bought a linkstation pro duo and was having the same problem as you are:

1 am able to access the shared folders on the NAS through the 3G connection on my iphone, but not able to do so when the same phone is on the home wifi network - message says "could not connect to the server"

I wanted to check with you if you were able to resolve the situation that you experience, and if so, how?

Some details:

1. Router and NAS are both on the same wifi home network. I have already registered the name on buffalonas.com and forwarded the port to 9000 on the router settings.

Cheers
