I attached a 250 GB External HDD to a USB port of my LinkStations Pro Duo (LS-W1.0TG/R1-V3), and the automatically created share drive 'usbdrive1' is always Read Only.  I have tried changing the settings between Read-Only and Read-Write, but it's always Read Only from Windows XP.

How can I make it writable?

According to some notes I red, the drive is read-only if it is formated to NTFS.  To make it read/write, you need to format external drive to XFS or EXT3.
