The box I am trying to fix isn't booting.  After about 35 seconds it stops with diag light repeatedly flashing 5 times,

Not exactly sure what the common name of this model is.  The model number is HD-H0.6TGL/R5.  It is silver, about 7" wide by 9" tall by 10" deep.

This is URGENT, as owner has no current backups.

This means the unit has a flash-ROM error and is not recoverable.

PM me for TFTP / Boot Images / Recovery files  LSRecovery.exe file.

I don't accept this (yet) as the end of things.  Aren't the four hard drives entact as a RAID5 set?  Can they be moved to a different unit?  Have to be another Buffalo Terastation?  Exact same model?  Or can any of the four be mounted in a Windows box to get the data from?  (I suspect not.)  And by the way, what is the common name for this so-called model HD-H0.6TGL/R5?  Thanks.

Oh, and is the UFS Eplorer Software an option for this situation?

It was just called a Terastation, the first one produced, probably 10 years old.

Hard to find another unit like this but if you move the disks to another unit (it has to be the exact same model and firmware installed) it might work.

Again, this unit is probably 10 years old, why no backup? What makes you think RAID is a backup?!?!?!?!

The drives cannot be mounted in Windows as there are unix partitions, not NTFS or FAT on them.

Thought it was ancient.  Back when buffalo roamed freely on the American West...

Thanks for quick and decisive anwers.  Sounds like a case for professional recovery services.
