Regular Backups for LS-WVL/E?

I just got my LS-WVL/E set up in a Raid-1 configuration and have placed some files on it that I'd like to have backed up. I've seen somebody on this forum with a signature that reads "RAID is NOT a backup solution", and that got me thinking.

1) What IS a good way to backup the data on my LS-WVL/E?

2) I currently have my LS-WVL/E's USB port connected to a UPS so that it can auto-power down on a power loss. Does that mean I cannot keep a USB drive connected for backup purposes AND retain the NAS/UPS communication?

3) If I do hook up a USB drive to my LS-WVL/E, is there a way to schedule regular backups to the USB drive? What are some good approaches for this? Unattended backups would be preferred, but I'll take a manual process if necessary.

Sorry if these are "newbie" questions... lots to learn!

Thanks,

Michael

1. Connect a USB HDD to the Linkstation.

2. Correct, you cannot do both.

3. Yes, you can schedule backups via the System -> backup tab of the Linkstation.

Thanks,

Michael
