I run a mac and just bought a DriveStation HD-WL4TU3/R1J, but when I connect it to my computer it only displays 2TB of capacity, not 4TB.

How do I fix this?

Version: Mac OS 10.6.8

Type: iMac Intel Core 2 Duo

Are you running RAID1? If so you will only see 2TB.

PM me for TFTP / Boot Images / Recovery files  LSRecovery.exe file.

The manual is in Japanese, which I don't read very well, so I'm a bit lost with the RAID thing.

Thank you, Davo.
How do I find out if I am running RAID5?

And if I am, how do I fix that?

you would need to connect it to your MAC and run the RAID utilty that comes on the CD  and check what RAID mode it is on.

If you want to use the full capacity then you would need to change it to RAID0. This would however mean that if one of the disks goes faulty then the data on the 1 remaining disk would be lost also.

Thanks. Downloaded and installed the RAID utility. When I start it up, I get the following error message: "The device is disconnected. You can now exit the utility."

Kjeld

I used the RAID utility on the disk that came with the DriveStation.

It now works.

It says:

HD-WLU3/R1-193: Disk Structure : RAID1 Mode (both for Disk 1 and Disk 2

HD-WLU3/R1-01B: Disk Structure : Normal Mode

So, I will try changing it to RAID0

Yes, then you will see the full 2TB, make sure you understand how RAID works, as i said, in RAID0 if one of the HDDs develops a fault you will loss all the data on the other disk too.

PM me for TFTP / Boot Images / Recovery files  LSRecovery.exe file.

RAID is still something I don't comprehend very well, but I need 4TB for my backups...

By the way, I was able to reformat the disk and get 4TB. Thanks!
