DLNA server in LinkStation LS-CHL

I am having a problem with my LS-CHL, which I bought in December 2011.  It works fine as a NAS, but the media server does not seem to work.

The DLNA server is enabled, and the public folder is set to "share".  But my DLNA client (a Denon RCD-N7 hi-fi) does not see the server.  If I display the Authorized DLNA Media Clients list, the only entry is the NAS itself.  The hi-fi can see my laptop (which is running Microsoft Media Player), so the hi-fi seems to be functioning correctly as a DLNA client.

I have updated the firmware on the NAS to v1.56, but the problem is still the same.  Can anyone advise on how to make the DLNA server work?  Or can you suggest some DLNA client/player software that I can use on a laptop to prove that the DLNA server is working?

Thanks
Stuart Ganney.

I'm having excactly the same issue. I also have a LS-CHL 1TB when I connected to network I could see the LS-CHL DLNA server from windows 7 PC X Box, LG TV and Cello TV. Happy days!

However now I cant see LS-CHL DLNA server from any of these devices. It looks like the LS-CHL DLNA server isnt working. I have re-started LS-CHL DLNA server and also re-booted LS-CHL

NAS drive is fine in every other respect?

Anyone help?

After months of playing around with the NAS, I eventually got desperate and moved it into the same room as the HiFi, so that I could join them together on a single Ethernet hub.  And everything started working!  So I think the cause of my problem was that my NetGear wireless router was not forwarding the UPNP announcements from the wired side (where the NAS was plugged in) to the wireless side (where the HiFi was listening).  I have now pulled up some floorboards and run a cable from the HiFi to one of the RJ45 ports on the NetGear router, and all is good.

When I have looked closer at the UPNP announcements, I see they are IP multicasts, so I now need a way of making the NetGear router forward these on.  This may also be a useful solution for anyone else suffering from similar problems.  Does anyone know a way to do that?

I started to have problems with the dnla recently. It started a few days ago and now it doesn´t come up on any list on any of my dnla applications. I can access to the linkstation with windows explorer and with my blu-ray ( by login) but not with the tv and not with the 2 mini.pc´s I recently bought for only one purpose....For video playback from my linkstation. Extremely annoying....I use a thomson gateway as router/modem. It doesn´t work wired nor wireless.

I found out that it seems like the linkstation is trying to upgrade firmware and dlna´s not avaiable meanwhile. The updating seems to be neverending and I don´t know how to stop it....Extremely annoying....
