Dear All,

Last month we have had problem with our Terastation TS-4TL/5 , suddently our HD on ARRAY5 of us got error, below the description from log:

Jan  7 10:24:04 TS-XLC11 errormon[1563]: Information situation detected! OperationModeI12DEGRADE MODE

Jan  7 10:24:09 TS-XLC11 errormon[1563]: Error situation detected! RAID ERROR   E13Array1 Error

Jan  7 10:24:23 TS-XLC11 errormon[1563]: Error situation detected! HD1 Error    E23HD1 Is Faulty

Jan  7 10:24:28 TS-XLC11 errormon[1563]: Error situation detected! HD2 Error    E23HD2 Is Faulty

Jan  7 10:24:32 TS-XLC11 errormon[1563]: Error situation detected! HD3 Error    E23HD3 Is Faulty

Jan  7 10:24:37 TS-XLC11 errormon[1563]: Error situation detected! HD4 Error    E23HD4 Is Faulty

Jan  7 10:34:31 TS-XLC11 errormon[1563]: Error situation cleared! HD1 Error    E23HD1 Is Faulty

Jan  7 10:34:36 TS-XLC11 errormon[1563]: Error situation cleared! HD2 Error    E23HD2 Is Faulty

Jan  7 10:34:41 TS-XLC11 errormon[1563]: Error situation cleared! HD3 Error    E23HD3 Is Faulty

Jan  7 10:34:46 TS-XLC11 errormon[1563]: Error situation cleared! HD4 Error    E23HD4 Is Faulty

Harddisk 01 of our Array5 had error with the red alert on the indicator lamp, and we had red alert on display said "RAID ERROR   E13Array1 Error" but we still can access share data folder on it and so with the web interface access.

Last week we have replaced error harddisk with replacement HD and we have rebuild again, after the machine reeboot we have found new error that HD03 is faulty (red lamp indicator on HD).

Jan 21 04:34:09 TS-XLC11 errormon[1563]: Error situation cleared! RAID ERROR   E13Array1 Error

Jan 21 04:34:27 TS-XLC11 errormon[1563]: Information situation detected! RAID         I18ARRAY1Rebuilding

Jan 21 11:30:44 TS-XLC11 linkstation: [Fail] Cannot sync to ntp server

Jan 21 13:59:21 TS-XLC11 kernelmon: cmd=ioerr sdc READ 1929634157 1

Jan 21 13:59:25 TS-XLC11 kernelmon: cmd=raiddegraded 2 8 38

Jan 21 13:59:30 TS-XLC11 errormon[1563]: Error situation detected! RAID ERROR   E13Array1 Error

Jan 21 13:59:34 TS-XLC11 errormon[1563]: Error situation detected! HD3 Error    E23HD3 Is Faulty

Then we have pull out and inserted back HD in to the rack and the indicator lamp back to normal,  but after it was all done the storage display show different alert " errormon[1530]: Error situation detected! RAID ARRAY1  E14Can't Mount"

- since that time we can't access shared folder .

- We can't perform disk check from Admin Interface.

- ARRAY1 of RAID5 error showed in the Admin Interface

- we had upgrade firmware, into 1.58 version but it seems not  solved the problem.

Question:

- How does this happen?

- Is it any possiblility to save the data from the NAS storage?

Please help ASAP.

Thanks and Regards,

Pancayadi

If you need the data then contact a data recovery company however to be fair you should always have a backup. To get the unit operational again you will need to completely delete and recreate the RAID. This will erase all the data on the Terastation.

PM me for TFTP / Boot Images / Recovery files  LSRecovery.exe file.
