Copy speed rubbish with LS-X1.0TL connected on my LAN

I recently purchased a LS-X1.0TL with the sole purpose of allowing all my family (on different Wireless laptops) to access the same data, etc.

Sadly, I have found that copying data to/from this LS-X1.0TL to be extremely slow!! 700Kbps transfer rate. Compare to a USB 2.0 directly attached device transfer of approx 25Mbps.

Has anyone else experienced this?

I am going to get hold of a X-over cable to test back to back between PC and LS-X1.0TL - see what the speed is then.

Any thoughts???

Most likely a network bottleneck, connect the linkstation directly to a pc, set a static ip on the pc and test the transfer rate on a direct connection.
PM me for TFTP / Boot Images / Recovery files  LSRecovery.exe file.

Directly to a PC via what? The only port on the back of this thing is ethernet. You can't connect that to a PC that is connected to a network. Personally, I would wire the computers directly to the router and see if that improves the transfer rate. Wireless may be your bottleneck.

Also, you mention everyone is accessing "the same data." Do you mean at the same time? That's not going to work unless the file set to read only.

If users are moving many MBs often, you should have them use FTP. Its much faster and much more reliable. There is a little FTP client called Drop Uplad that works well (and is free). http://www.rankspirit.com/rankspirit-downloads.php">http://www.rankspirit.com/rankspirit-downloads.php

Directly to the pc via Ethernet!! To eliminate the network as being the problem.
