Mac OS 10.8 and NAS Linkstation

Hi,

 

I am new and tried to find a solution in the forum on the problem that after the upgrademy MacBook (late 2008)  to Mountain Lion 10.8 my system can't find the Linkstation anymore.So if I missed this topic, please guide me there. thanks. 

 

I have other devices Mac 10.7 and Microsoft Win 7 which have no issues.

Hi,

 

Today I got my new LinkStation LS-QVLC88 with 12TB.  I updated firmware to version 1.60.

 

On my Windows PC (Vista), I can find and use the LS just via Explorer - Network, even without installing anything.

 

Here is my problem: I do not see the LS from my Mac (iMac Intel i7 with OS X 10.8.1). 

Buffalo's homepage (http://www.buffalo-technology.com/linkstation-trade.html)">http://www.buffalo-technology.com/linkstation-trade.html) and the packaging of the LS both just say "Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later".

 

Here is what I did on iMac:

Installed software from CD

Ran NASNavigator2 -> did not show nor mount a disk / share

Updated firmware to 1.60 (from 1.5x I think)

Installed NASNavigator2 again -> same result

 

Did I miss anything? What can I do to be able to use LS on my iMac, too?

Additional information:

I can see the LS now in Finder's shares.

I THINK this is what I did different than before (did not really take care, so it is hard to say if it really is that):

In NASNavigator2:

- first I always clicked on symbol -> then open -> LS did not show up in Finder

- now I clicked on symbol of LS -> then click on button Open -> LS does show up in Finder

 

As I said I have no idea if this was the difference or I did anything else. However, it works for me right now.

Can you ping the Linkstation from the MAC or access the web admin page at all using its IP address?

 


EDIT: I see you have now been able to resolve the issue.

The mentioned solution does not work for me.

I have am MacPro Retina with MacOS 10.8.2 and an LS-WSXL (Firmware 1.56) connected via Wifi.

I can connect to the Web Admin Page with any browser, log in and so on, but I cannot see the NAS in the Finder.

I have a Data Share and a TimeMachine Share, AFP activated.

The NasNavigator (Ver. 2.52) doen't show any anything.

Surprisingly: The TimeMachine Settings dialog shows the NAS and some Details about the free storage space, but any attempt to connect fails.

Go -> Connect to Server -> smb://IPOfNas -> Connect -> logon as guest. It should then appear in Finder.

Thanks for this hint.

But now - after I finally managed to update the firmware of the LS Mini to 1.62 - all its shares are visible in Finder again, and TimeMachine connects successfully.

If only I had't been forced to use a Windows PC do the update, since the Mac OS version of the tool failed... ;-)

I am running into the same problem here.  My configuration is as follows:

Mac OS X 10.8.2

Linkstation Live LS-X3.0TL

NAS Navigator2 v 2.56

NAS Navigator does not see the Linkstation

I have disabled the WiFi on my MACBook and connected to the LAN

I can see the Linkstation in my DHCP tables

 

Any thoughts???

Since you are able to see the unit listed in your DHCP table, do you receive any errors when attempting to access the unit's web interface by typing its IP address into the address of your web browser? Also, are you able to manually navigate to the shared folders on the unit by going to Go -> Connect to Server, typing in SMB://IP address of Linkstation? Also, are you able to see the unit listed in the Nas Navigator when running the software on a different computer?
