Hi,

I have a terastation HD-H1.0TGL/R5 thats been running for years but yesterday it went unresponsive on the network.  There's no ethernet light going on either in the unit or the router so its looking like the ethernet port is dead.  On the front of the unit the drive lights are green, and there's a link light but the diag light flashes.  Cycling the power, replacing the cable and changing the port didn't help.

There's no second ethernet port for this nas, so this is a problem.  I'm thinking worse case scenario, i wiil need to take out the drives and put them in my newer Terastation III 4TB and back up the data... does anyone know if this is possible?  Can the raid be transferred to another host?

Once I could get in and take a look at it, the issue is fairly simple, the fan isn't turning.  This is also confirmed  by the diag light blinking 4 times, and the key to decoding the light is here: http://buffalo.nas-central.org/index.php/Hardware_LEDs">http://buffalo.nas-central.org/index.php/Hardware_LEDs . Reading google results, if I had to do it, apparently the RAID can be reconstructed in a linux system.  But it is a delicate operation and may require a PPC based host for this old model.  A replacement fan is on the way, hopefully it will be back together and functioning next week.
