Hello,

My Buffalo hd pe320u2 hard disk is not getting detected by the explorer, The hardware is detected and it flashes the message that device driver is installed and the device is ready to use.

This problem started after the drive was stopped when a copy task was in progress.

Here is the current situation in windows vista...

1)The device is not shown in my computer

2)The disk manager recognizes the disk and shows that it is "un initialized"

3) When i tried to initialize it ... "The requested sector cannot be found" error is thrown.

I tried to plug the device in Fedora 9

1) The disk is recognized, but not mounted

2) upon giving the mount option on right click, "The device cannot be mounted" error is thrown.

Please help me to solve this problem, The hard disk contains crucial data

How can i download and re install the firmware?

JoshC

There is no "firmware" for this unit.  Go to computer and right click on it.  Go to manage and then go to disk management.  If you see the drive in there you should be able to right click on the drive and initilize the unit.

I have a problem with my buffalo external hardrive since it's not detected by my computer. But for my laptop & desktop at the office, it detects. What's wrong with my desktop?

JoshC

Try mulitple USB ports.  The unit uses a basic Windows USB driver (usbstor.ini) make sure there up to date.  Have you had any updates to the OS?  Which OS are you using.

Yeah your disk is f****ed, contact a data recovery and keep a backup next time.
