Terastation III TS-RXL/R5 Wake On Lan

I installed the firmware 1.30 to use the Wol functionnality.

 

The power mode switch is selected to MANUAL.

 

I use the two networks cards.

 

I enable the Wake On Lan in the Network web interface

 

When I shutdown the unit I could see that the network still ON and the unit display Standby ZZZZ. But When I send the magic packet the unit don't wake up. I tried on the two interfaces and nothing happens.

This will sound odd, but do you have the Buffalo NAS Navigator installed running on your host? Make sure you do, and have the NAS added to it. See if it is able to 'wake up' the Terastation.  If so, grab wireshark or something to see what that packet looks like and where it's being sent ;)

 

If so, you may need to change up your strategy a bit.  I seem to recall Buffalo using a non-standard port...but my memory evades me today....

I don't realy use this software but I tried with the Navigator software and when the unit is on standby the unit is not discovered.

 

I will try to discoved it, shutdown the unit and try with the software to "wake" it up.

 

I think about another possibility, I disabled the guest account on the unit, so I will try the WOL with the guest account enable.

Hi,

I was able to wake up my terastation using the following steps:

 

- download wake on lan software to your C: drive (or any location) from http://sourceforge.net/projects/wake-on-lan/" target="_blank">http://sourceforge.net/projects/wake-on-lan/

- cd \
- cd wol-bin
- C:\wol-bin>wol.exe -p 2304 <your terastation mac address>
