Have had this Terastation for 5 or 6 more years. Great product. I had a no power for 8 days (Sandy). I may have gotten a power surge when power came back on. Lost Micro wave and phone. I cannot get to the Terastation. I signed in via internet broswer. Signing in with default credentials. Everything is in Japnese, except folder names on a page, was hoping to click them and see files but i didn't. I read the FAQ and it dosn't pertain to my model. how can I get it to english and check to see if my files are recoverable? I've tried to power on and off and wait for days. Then I held reset button down for 10 secs and waited another day or so. the 1 2 3 4 lights are green and solid (status/full) the power light is green solid and the link/act light s green and blinking? Any help getting into the box? Thanks.

There is no option for "image on my computer" tab Just "URL"  so I put the path to picture in that.

  1. Connect to the web configuration utility by entering the TeraStation's IP address in a web browser.
  2. In the column of blue items on the left hand side, select the second link.
  3. Under the first header are two text fields; enter or modify the text in the second.
  4. Under the third header, the first entry is a radio selection with two options; select the one on the right.
  5. Under the fourth header (with two menu/pulldown boxes beneath it), set both menu boxes to the second entry in the list (the second menu box should say cp437). -> Press the grey button on the left.
  6. Once this is done press the "TOP" button on the top left of the screen and wait for the page to change back to englidh (do not refresh the page yourself, it might take a minute or 2 to complete.

Thanks Davo!! That did it and  I played around for awhile then after an hour or so, I FOUND the disk for the client software ran it and it found the terastation and all is fine!!! Thank you your a life saver.  It's running firmware 1.8 is there any reason to upgrade it? If yes how do you upgrade. I don't want to run the setup on main disk in fear it reformats and i lose everything. If you decide your done with me, thank you so much for the help!

Well the latest FW for that unit is 2.16, download the file to your PC, unzip the run the .exe file with your anti virus and firewall software.

The update does not effect any data on the unit but ensure you have a backup at all times.
