LS-WXL459 Linkstation can't configure disks, nor can I create array - everything Greyed out

I've just got a new 2TB Linkstation and am having problems.

 

When I first turned it on it was structured with 1 2TB RAID0 array. I was able to connect to it as a network drive, create a sub folder and transfer a text file to it (which has led me to believe (see later) there is nothing fundamentally wrong with the HHD's)

 

However I wanted the NAS set up as RAID1 - which I guess is a major reason most of us buy these devices.

 

I was able to delete the old array, and kick of the creation of a new RAID1 array. However it failed during the creation. Now when I go to System -> Storage everything option is greyed out and I can't create any sort of array at all.

 

The Disk section lists both disks, and they don't appear to be formatted or report any info. But all the options Check disk/ Format disk/ Remove disk/ rediscover disk are all greyed out.

In the Array section it mentions Array 1, but it is not selectable (if you follow the EDP link there is a button to 'Create RAID 1 retaining data' but that is greyed out too.

What I assume has happened is the disks were half set up for the RAID 1 array when there was a problem, and have been left in a no-mans land.

 

The Question is. How do I 'reset' the disks so that the system can recognize them properly and allow me to try set up the RAID1 array again.

Thanks for the link (I had tried searchng before honest). I'll try solution now and report back

I am facing exactly the same problem. Since then, i tried to follow the steps in FAQ2 updateing the firmware...(Thanks for the hint) and now, after two days , i cant find the Linkstation in the network and all i have now is a red LED flashing six times.

Since i am not willing to spend a considerable time , fixing technical devices, im going to quit Buffalo, place a customers review at amazon and get me a iomega drive or something.

Follow FAQ 3 of 5 to resolve the E06 error. If your not willing to spend time correcting an issue then why did you bother posting on forum at all?! :-b
